The inability of the banks to work out a deal with the homeowners in a reasonable time frame increases the likelihood of a walkaway. Documents are lost.
A friend got laid off from his job in Indiana last year. He told the bank the situation. Told them that he can not afford to keep the house. He moved back to Arlington Texas. Before moving he had painted the house and did some minor repairs. He took pictures and on his way out of town gave the bank a set of the pictures.
Eight months later and the bank is calling on a daily basis. First they offered 1%. He explained that he has no job. He said. "please sell the house, and leave me alone".
The house could have been sold 3 weeks after the bank was informed of the plant closure.
