Overall, according to the researchers at Edmunds, hybrid vehicles – as a segment – do not provide the lowest total cost of ownership, despite the significantly better fuel economy hybrids offer.
True cost of ownership was based upon 5 years of ownership with a particular focus upon depreciation, financing, taxes, fees, insurance premiums, fuel costs, regional variances, maintenance and repairs.
