Let’s Move! Town Hall with First Lady Michelle Obama
Student reporters and young people from schools across the country joined First Lady Michelle Obama in the State Dining Room of the White House for a Let’s Move! Town Hall hosted by C-SPAN’s Susan Swain. Let’s Move! is an initiative started by the First Lady to help raise a healthier generation of kids and solve the epidemic of childhood obesity within a generation.

Today’s event was inspired by C-SPAN’s annual documentary contest “Student Cam” where health was the number one issue among youth. A special guest at today’s event was Matthew Shimura, the first prize winner in the middle school category for a documentary on childhood obesity (watch the winning documentary here). Matthew attends the Punahou School in Honolulu, HI — the same school President Obama attended during his childhood years in Hawaii.

Participants including local students, youth working on health and nutrition issues, Girl Scouts, and student reporters asked the First Lady about everything from vending machines in schools to nutrition labels to the role of government in all of this. Watch the Let’s Move! Town Hall here:
